Frequently Asked Question

Clinical Skills Lab (CSL) work and targets
Last Updated 3 years ago

Targets can be set up to count from clinical cases, skills lab work or both. The decision on how they are set up is made by individual units when the targets are set.

If a target has been set up to only count clinical cases then skills lab work will not be automatically included. At an examining tutor's discretion, skills lab work might be considered as "compensatory" for not carrying out the procedure for a patient. However, you should not assume this will be the case and should make every effort to achieve your targets with their normal requirements.

If, for your own reference, you wish to see your skills lab work included in your totals, you can switch to the "Include compensatory" tab then tick the "Include skills lab" tickbox. The same functionality is available to tutors so they can see all of your experience when deciding if you have met your targets.
