Frequently Asked Question

Entering Radiography Treatments
Last Updated 3 years ago

There are 2 sets of procedures for radiography in the portfolio :

  1. Radiology procedures - These procedures are for when you request and/or report on a radiograph.
  2. Dental Radiography procedures - These procedures are to be used when you were present for the radiograph - either to observe or actually carry out the exposure yourself. (There are procedures of each of the radiographs you can expose/observe being exposed e.g. "Dental Radiography: Bitewing")

For the Radiology procedures you can just enter a single treatment regardless of how many exposures were actually taken. However, for Dental Radiography procedures you should enter one treatment to your entry per film exposed. Read the pop up descriptions that appear when you select the procedures for further information.

So, if you request a radiograph, expose the film yourself and then report on it you should enter a single "request" procedure, one or more dental radiography procedures (as appropriate) and a single "report" procedure. This allows full credit to be received by you for carrying out all of the stages.

When you undertake any radiology/graphy work as part of a normal patient visit you should enter this in your book alongside your other treatments and have it signed off by your clinical tutor. If you are doing a rotation in Radiography then there will be a Radiography clinic on the portfolio for you to enter your treatments in and you should create a visit for each patient you see on that clinic and record your work as detailed above. This should be signed off by the Radiologist who supervised your work. If a radiography tutor is not available in the list of tutors then please contact the help desk for them to be added. NB if you are supervised by a "pool" radiographer from elsewhere in STH you can select "STH General Radiographer" via the "Show All Tutors" button
